Chronic hyperuricaemia in gout; patients intolerant of or unresponsive to allopurinol
FEBEXTA-40 contains Febuxostat — a selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor (XOI) that reduces serum uric acid levels by blocking the enzyme responsible for uric acid synthesis. Unlike allopurinol, Febuxostat is a non-purine selective inhibitor, targeting both oxidised and reduced forms of xanthine oxidase for more complete and consistent uric acid lowering.
• Non-purine selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor — more potent than allopurinol
• Effective reduction of serum uric acid to target levels (<6 mg/dL)
• Suitable for patients with mild-to-moderate renal impairment
• No dose adjustment required in mild-to-moderate renal insufficiency
